Presentation of the priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration and the Police at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Rome
On 14 January 2025, a meeting of the liaison officers of the European Union countries accredited in Italy, representatives of FRONTEX, the European Commission Representation and the Italian security and public order services was held at the Polish Embassy in Rome, dedicated to the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. The Police Liaison Officer in Italy presented the priorities of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration and the activities of the Polish Police planned for the duration of the presidency.
The initiatives of the Polish Police to prevent and combat criminal threats, especially in the context of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, attracted the most interest. Representatives of the Polizia di Stato, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza appreciated, among other things, the priorities of the fight against arms smuggling and the protection of victims of human trafficking, referring to the experiences of the Italian services in connection with the conflicts in the Balkans. Furthermore, they expressed their full support for the realisation of the objectives related to facilitating the exchange of criminal information between European law enforcement agencies and combating illegal migration.
At the end of the meeting, Dirigente Superiore della Polizia di Stato Eufemia Esposito, advisor to the Italian Minister of the Interior for international cooperation, declared: ‘The priorities of the Polish Police during the presidency are also the priorities of the Italian services.’
