1st Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Police took part in the celebration of Police Day in Latvia

5 December 2023 marks the 105th anniversary of the establishment of the Police in Latvia. 1st Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Police, Major General Dariusz Augustyniak, took part in the festive celebrations of this event.

The police force in Latvia was established on 5 December 1918. The formation, which numbers more than 6,000 people, is subordinate to the Latvian Ministry of the Interior, where official ceremonies to commemorate this anniversary were organised.

At the Latvian Police Day celebrations, the Polish Police was represented by the 1st Deputy of the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Police Major General Dariusz Augustyniak, who extended his wished to the local police officers on this occasion. In addition, he handed over to the Chief of the Latvian Police, Colonel Armands Ruks, a congratulatory letter from the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Police, General Jarosław Szymczyk, dedicated on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the establishment of the Police in that country.

Among the invited guests were representatives of Latvian state services and institutions, as well as law enforcement agencies of Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Moldova and the United States of America. Also present were the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia and representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia. It is worth mentioning that wishes in the form of a recording were sent by the Executive Director of Europol, Ms Catherine De Bolle, and the Secretary General of INTERPOL, Mr Jürgen Stock.
