Delegation of the Embassy and Consulate of Indonesia with a visit to the Police Headquarters
On September 21, 2020, the head of the Polish Police, general inspector Jarosław Szymczyk accepted representatives of the Republic of Indonesiaat the Police Headquarters. The meeting was an opportunity to discuss broadly understood security issues with the representatives of this island country.

Chief Police Commander, general inspector Jarosław Szymczyk, 1st Deputy Chief Police Commander, general Dariusz Augustyniak met at the Police Headquarters with representatives of the Embassy and Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia, represented by Her Excellency Siti Nugraha Mauladiah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Poland, Mr. Hilman Zaeni, Defense Attache of the Republic of Indonesia and Mr. Marian Skrzypiec, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Krakow.
During the meeting the Commander-in-Chief of the Police and the Ambassador touched on the most important security issues from the police point of view. Ambassador Mauladiah expressed her appreciation for the activities of the Polish Police in the era of the coronavirus pandemic. The head of the Polish Police admitted that the pandemic redefined the way in which many of the police's statutory tasks are carried out as well as the police officershad to take on new responsibilities. The two sides stressed the importance of mutual cooperation in the exchange of good police practices in the context of counteracting threats caused by a pandemic.
The main guest of the meeting also expressed a positive opinion about the safety of Indonesian citizens staying in Poland. She admitted that she is not familiar with any cases inspired by racial, ethnic or religious xenophobia. The Head of the Polish Police clearly emphasized that one of the priorities of the formation he leads is equal treatment of every person regardless of skin colour, religious beliefs and other differences between us. He added that his personal desire is for everyone in Poland to feel safe as if they were at home.
Both parties unanimously stressed that regardless of cultural and geopolitical differences, security can only be achieved through effective and close international cooperation.
During the discussion there was also room for referring to theme celebrated in August this year, namely the 75th anniversary of independence of Indonesia, as well as the 65th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Poland and Indonesia. These two anniversaries inspired the organization of a number of cultural events in Poland, presenting the cultural heritage, the beauty of the landscape and the wealth of cuisine of this island state.

Located on more than 17 500 islands, the Republic of Indonesia is the world's largest island country, with a rich culture and one of the world's fastest growing economies. The diplomatic relations between Poland and Indonesia date back to 1955. Despite the geographical distance, both countries have a legal basis for mutual cooperation, which is the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Poland and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia on cooperation in combating international organized crime and other types of crime.
