Nordic Liaison Officer awarded with a Medal of Merit for Police

On 22 July 2020, at the National Police Headquarters, the ceremony was held during which the Medal of Merit for Police was awarded to Mr. Tor Espen Haga, Nordic Liaison Officer at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Warsaw. Mr. Haga has been involved in the development of relations between the Polish Police and the law enforcement agencies of Scandinavian countries. The cooperation resulted in successful operations undertaken by law enforcement agencies against various forms of organised crime.

The award ceremony coincides with the completion of the Nordic Liaison Officer's mission in Poland. Over the last 4 years, he has actively participated in supporting the Polish Police in undertakings in the field of counteracting drug and serious crime, including, inter alia, combating illegal trade in firearms and the activities of mobile organized criminal groups which in the territory of the Scandinavian countries deal with theft of luxury cars and transport, agricultural and construction machinery. The role of the Nordic Liaison Officer in the process of transferring criminal information cannot be overestimated. With his active support, the Norwegian law enforcement authorities were notified of shipments of excise goods to the Scandinavian countries. Excellent cooperation at the operational level brought about numerous seizures of excise goods by the Scandinavian services. During his mission, Mr. Tor Espen Haga provided Polish police officers with prospects for a successful international cooperation. Particularly involved in this cooperation were the officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police, whose participation in joint ventures contributed to the development of a positive image of the entire organisation abroad.

During today's ceremony, Mr. Tor Espen Haga was decorated by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Police, general Kamil Bracha. In his speech, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief underlined the merits of the distinguished officer in building ties of cooperation with the Polish Police, thanked for his joint projects and wished him further professional success. He also expressed hope for further nominations with police medals, demonstrating his willingness to continue cooperation in the future.
